At SigNoz, we built an open-source observability platform that helps engineers monitor their systems. But ironically, while our customers used our product to gain visibility, we lacked clarity into their experience.

In 2023, I tackled this disconnect. Our data revealed a troubling pattern: despite strong initial signups, users weren't converting after trials. The aha moment where they'd experience our platform's true value remained elusive.

Each customer arrived with unique contexts and specific problems to solve. Our one-size-fits-all onboarding was failing to address these diverse needs, creating a frustrating first experience.

I led a deep investigation into user behavior that evolved into completely reimagining our onboarding journey. By mapping diverse user archetypes and their fundamental needs, we crafted personalized pathways that significantly improved retention and laid groundwork for targeting the right sales opportunities.

Working as both product designer and design engineer, I transformed these insights into interfaces that delivered value from the very first interaction - perfecting the critical moments where users discover what SigNoz can truly do for them.
